Airedale celebrates a record 815 years' combined service from forty-one employees

Leeds, UK, November 3, 2008  -

The combined service of forty-one employees, representing a record 815 years, was recognised at Airedale’s 2008 Long Service Awards presentation which also saw a record number of twenty-nine awards recognising 20 or more years’ service. Three employees received 30 Year Awards.

Recipients were from virtually every sector of the company, from sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing to service engineers and sales management, reflecting the breadth of experience at global air conditioning manufacturer Airedale.

Presenting the awards at a special luncheon, Airedale managing director Clive Parkman said: “You are all testimony to the dedication and loyalty which abounds here at Airedale and which is a significant contributor to why the business is as successful as it is today. Inevitably there will be change going forward and we must harness all the knowledge and commitment in this room so that young people entering the company will pick up on this.

“Each of you in this room should congratulate yourself on this record achievement. It is thanks to you and your fellow employees that the company is where it is now. With such positive attitude and commitment, Airedale will have a strong future. Good people combined with a good portfolio of products are the way forward.”

The three 30 Year Award winners are technical & quality manager Tony Bedard; sheet metal team coach Barrie Greene and maintenance engineer Stuart Fozzard. All three joined Airedale in 1978. Tony began as a production worker at Airedale’s original premises in north Leeds. He established Airedale’s first field engineering team and travelled to every continent on behalf of the company. Stuart joined Airedale on the electrical side and has travelled widely overseas installing and commissioning air conditioning units. One of the highlights of his 30 years at Airedale was the company’s 25th celebrations in 2004 during which he buried a time capsule in the grounds. Barrie joined a small team of six at a small mill in Pudsey which made the cases for Airedale units. He was one of the first to move to Airedale’s present site, which at the time was a derelict woollen mill and is now state-of-the-art 25,000m² production facility with £2.5 million test centre.
