Airedale International Air Conditioning MD pays tribute to highly skilled workforce
Leeds, UK, December 21, 2011 -
At a special awards presentation and lunch recognising employee long service, Airedale managing director Clive Parkman paid tribute to 31 employees whose combined service represents 560 years. Four of the employees each received a 30 Year Award.
Congratulating the highly skilled workforce, Clive said: “I thank you all for your positive attitude and commitment, which clearly helps drive our business forward. One thing I ask is that you be aware of the experience and knowledge you have and share it with those who are new and coming into the business
“The majority of the new people at Airedale are fresh from college or university. They have generic engineering qualifications which have to be overlaid with knowledge and skills relating to air conditioning and the theory behind it; I look to you to pass on some of your experiences to enable them to be successful.”
An expanding workforce
In the past two years Airedale International Air Conditioning has taken on 20 people across the company and this level of recruitment is set to continue. During 2011 Airedale has had 17 apprentices, 14 of whom are gaining hands-on experience and learning valuable skills in Airedale’s manufacturing facility.
Added Parkman: “At the same time, we have launched many new products which are our life blood – and everyone in the company contributes. Our customers are increasingly demanding more efficient products which are complex to design, manufacture and service thus requiring higher skills from our staff. “
Air conditioning training school
“In 2011 we invested in a £250,000 training school creating a centre of engineering excellence; a purpose-built learning environment of classroom and workshops equipped with cutting-edge equipment and products, providing our staff and external customers with a facility to support training in new technologies and appropriate skills.”
