Airedale presented as a beacon for success in the House of Commons

In a pertinent debate on apprenticeships and tackling UK youth unemployment in the House of Commons this week; Airedale has been referenced as a blue print for success.

Successful manufacturer of state-of-the-art air conditioning

In his address, Stuart Andrew MP for Pudsey, presented Airedale International Air Conditioning as a successful technology-driven company which pushes the boundaries of cutting-edge advancements in the air conditioning industry. He did however raise the concerns of Airedale managing director, Clive Parkman, namely that with customers’ increasing demand for state-of-the-art, energy efficient products, comes a need for highly skilled employees – a need that Parkman stated was not always available.

Air conditioning and refrigeration training school

Mr. Andrew continued to tell the House how Airedale had combated this shortfall, with the investment of a new £250,000 training and apprenticeship skills centre so that Airedale can ensure it has the skilled people that it needs to manufacture industry leading cooling systems. Airedale’s facility currently supports 17 apprentices as well as internal and external air conditioning and refrigeration training.

Mr. Andrew urged the Government to continue with their apprenticeship policy to help young people get into work but stressed the importance of speaking to industry to ensure that apprentices are trained in skills they need to create a competitive, skilled workforce and economy.
