AIAC South Africa staff recently showed their support for a local Johannesburg children’s home Mother of peace by carrying out DIY work and interacting with the children on 26 June.

Improvements included; fixing doors, replacing lights and cutting overgrown branches covering the playground and all staff participated.

Belinda Cox said: “What an absolutely humbling experience. To go there and do some small renovation tasks, and give the children a nice “braai” to start off the school holidays, which to them is such is big deal but to us seems like not even a drop in the bucket. The gratefulness and level of appreciation for something so small makes you reflect on your own life and realise how much you have to be grateful for.”

Staff mothers at the home, Pat and Val, care for more than 30 children, and provide a healthy, loving and structured environment in which the children can grow up as children.

Inspired Andrew Koeslag said: “I wish Pat and Val, all the best prosperity in the world as they consciously choose to put their own dreams and aspirations aside, to provide these children with as much of a normal child’s life as possible and to show them that there are indeed people that care about them.”
