It’s been another hugely productive week at Airedale as we continue to bounce back even stronger than ever to maintain our market-leading position within the industry.
We have secured temporary premises within Leeds at Gelderd Lane and will now start to commence a phased relocation during the course of the coming weeks. With key items of plant including sheet metal and paint shop intact, we intend to transfer production to the ‘Leeds West’, Gelderd Lane site on an ongoing basis to ensure continuity of production. It has been fantastic to have assembly recommence within condensers and condensing units, as well as small systems. The paint ovens are now on, fibre optics has been run to the lower areas of the factory and Radan is up and running from an operations perspective.
It was great to see you all at our ‘all-hands’ session (Tuesday 24 September) and we were pleased it gave you a chance to view our new facility. The reason we have been able to move forward at such a rapid pace is down to you our people. Within a matter of hours, individuals were pulling together. People have come forward with ideas, worked together as teams and have put in some very long days. Our colleagues at Modine have pulled out the stops to help restore our IT and communications networks, and our partners at Airedale in South Africa are helping with manufacture of some systems. Our strength really is our people.
Out in the field, we continue to forge ahead with our sales and marketing activity and have attended the RAC Cooling Industry Awards this week as sponsors. We are also partnering with a number of our key customers at their preferred supplier events over the coming weeks – all of which will ensure we continue to bring in new business. Other exhibitions on the calendar are DCD Moscow in October and DCD London in November where we will announce a number of major headline-grabbing product launches.
Whilst the focus is on returning to full production as quickly as possible, we are now working with architects on plans to design and build a new, state-of-the-art facility at our existing site in Rawdon, Leeds. We firmly believe that we can build a bigger, stronger Airedale that will see us secure our world-leading, award-winning position in the market for another 40 years and beyond.
Further evidence of our growth strategy can be seen in the announcement that parent company, Modine, has entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire Consett-based manufacturer of air handling units, Barkell Limited. The deal, which is expected to close during the first quarter of 2014 subject to successful completion of due diligence, will allow us to extend our status as a world-leader in the design and manufacture of high efficiency cooling solutions.
More and more of you are now back at work and this will increase day by day as we prepare for the move to the new facility. We need your help with the preparations ready to start assembly at the new site as soon as we are installed and would advise that your line manager will be in regular contact with you throughout the coming days and weeks. We would remind you not to disclose any of your personal information to anyone other than verifiable members of Airedale; we have all your details and will continue to liaise with you directly.
Once again, thank you to everyone for your dedication and loyalty to Airedale. Please keep watching the website for updates and stay in contact with your line manager as we continue to bounce back even stronger than ever.Back to news section
