Employee briefing - 2/10/13
Date: 02nd October 2013 | Posted by: Airedale Team | Posted in: Press release
Now October is underway, we can start the official countdown to the move to the new Airedale site on Gelderd Lane as we continue to bounce back even stronger than ever.
The floor plan for the factory and office layout is finalised and arrangements are being made for the installation of essential services. Workstations and equipment will be transferred to Gelderd Lane to allow us to shift operations and production on a phased basis over the coming weeks.
Here at the Rawdon site, progress remains fast-paced. Production continues on small systems and our condenser and condensing unit range. Our sheet metal plant and paint shop remain fully operational and we are busy stockpiling components in advance of the move. The NPD team is now firmly established in the training centre, continuing to work on future product innovations and end of line testing.
Thanks to the hard work of the commercial team, relationships with key accounts and customers are being managed with the majority of customers prepared to wait for their orders and Airedale International in South Africa picking up orders for 20+ systems destined for Africa, South America and the Far East.
Aftersales teams are working as normal with a 100% track record on answering call-outs. The Controls department is working on numerous high-profile projects including Keysource Maylands Suite 3 and energy efficiency upgrades for British Aerospace and a range of large blue chip clients. Spares continue to replenish stocks; tables and new packing machines are now installed, and with a full team now working from the new site, spares shipments from Gelderd Lane continue.
Our IT team continues to work hard to establish IT and telecommunication infrastructure at both sites, with further meetings scheduled with BT and Verizon. They have also ensured that payroll will be returned to normal from this week.
This year we once again sponsored the RAC Cooling Awards in London. The event was a resounding success and allowed us to connect with a number of major clients, reaffirming the message that we are very much in business. It also allowed us to communicate our growth strategy as we continue with negotiations to acquire Barkell Limited. We are also busy preparing for DCD London on 20 & 21 November. This is one of the main data centre exhibitions we attend every year and, as with previous events, we are planning to make a number of major announcements to the market about new product developments. To maximise our investment as a Gold sponsor of the event, George Hannah will be making a technical presentation which is expected to draw in a large audience of data centre professionals.
October will see us exhibiting at Datacenter Dynamics in Moscow, a major talking point at which will be the opening of Airedale International in Russia. Our strengthened presence in Russia provides us with the local network we need to support existing customers and develop new business opportunities in the region. Another six months on and we will formally open our third international office in Dubai, allowing us to service our customers in the Middle East and Australasia.
Follow-up from the September Energy Event continues and will see the service team remain very busy over the coming months conducting energy surveys at nearly 4,000 UK customer sites, leading to incremental opportunities for spares, controls and service work. Customer feedback from the event shows that Airedale stood out from the crowd for our ability to offer a complete package.
With the rapid progress that is being made, the return to full production is drawing near and all the signs are that 2014, our 40th anniversary, will be another very successful year for Airedale as we assume our position as a world leader in the design and manufacture of innovative, high efficiency cooling systems. As we have alluded, we firmly believe that this chapter in our history has provided us with the perfect opportunity to build a better and stronger business to meet the shifting demands of our customers.
Thank you all for your patience and loyalty to the business. We know everyone is keen to get back to their usual jobs so please keep in touch with your line manager.
We look forward to seeing you at our new premises over the next few weeks.Back to news section
