Small but Steady Steps to Recovery: 16 September 2013

Date: 16th September 2013  |   Posted by: Airedale Team  |   Posted in: Press release

After a well-earned rest at the weekend, the recovery team is back at work today, another day closer to ‘business as usual’.

The big wins this week will be to agree the lease on the new site and plan the layout for the production areas and offices. In addition, in the spirit of ‘many hands make light work’, every single team is busy doing their bit to get up and running again and so minimizes any disruption to clients.

Working from the cottages on the Rawdon site, the Commercial team continues to process customer orders for product, spares, service and controls. Activity will step up another gear as more phone lines are installed later in the week. All customers with orders that were being built at the time of the fire have now been contacted and have been extremely understanding.

Spares have been shipping hundreds of single unit orders direct to customers, as well as processing other significant orders and following up on the 100+ leads received at the Energy Event, Birmingham NEC, 10-11 September 2013. Our Controls team built and shipped their first controls panels last week and production will continue this week, with other small systems also being built and dispatched.

The Service and Commissioning Divisions who were up and running as normal from last Monday, continue to attend at customer sites without any interruption to plans.

The NPD team are also now working from a central location and have resumed vital research and development activity that will ensure our precision and IT cooling systems range maintains its market-leading position in 2014 and beyond.

On the production side, sheet metal machines are operational, and new equipment and tooling requirements being identified and equipment ordered in advance of the move to the new site.

Over the weekend work started on new trenches to carry power and communications infrastructure to the factory and offices.  This should be completed next weekend.

On Tuesday, 24 September we are inviting employees to an ‘all-hands’ session at the new temporary site in Leeds.  Full details and directions will be provided nearer the time but please keep 12pm to 2pm free and remember to bring along your measurements so that new personal protective equipment (PPE) can be ordered for you.

Thank you for visiting the website – please keep returning for more updates over the course of the week. We’re making small but very steady steps to getting back on our feet. Keep up the good work.

Steve Joyce, HR Director
