CAD Engineer

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a CAD Engineer to work in the Product Development department. The role involves working closely with a team of mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing and quality engineers to design and develop the structural framework and packaging of new standard HVAC products from concept through to production manufacture whilst maintaining the existing portfolio.

The Role

The role consists of working as part of a team to develop new product design projects in accordance with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and relevant SOM guidelines from concept through to full product launch.

  • Producing drawings adhering to company, departmental and industry standards
  • Creating 3D models, layout drawings and designing pipe-work
  • Creating sheet metal manufacturing drawings of folded parts and assembly drawings
  • Working to deadlines and cost requirements
  • Designing products with manufacturing and assembly in mind, allowing labour targets to be met
  • Structuring Bills of Material
  • Sourcing appropriate furnishings and casework fittings

Skills & experience

  • Experience of MS Word and Excel are essential
    HNC or Degree qualified in an Engineering or Science based subject
    Previous product design experience
  • Sheet metal design experience
  • Sheet metal manufacturing experience preferred
  • Mechanical engineering knowledge would be an advantage
  • Have an ability to use their own initiative
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Ideally experience of the following software:
    • Solid Edge ST9 and later
    • Radan 2D CAD/CAM
    • AutoCAD 2D
    • SAP

Although a high base level of CAD knowledge is expected, training will be provided for the right applicant to develop the skills and knowledge required for the position.
