Having already picked up two awards so far this year, cooling systems manufacturer Airedale International is hoping to add to the list when the results of the RAC Cooling Industry Awards are announced tonight.

The awards, which champion the leading innovations and environmental successes in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry, this year see Airedale shortlisted for three product ranges in four separate categories.

On the list of finalists for ‘Air Conditioning Product of the Year’ and ‘Data Centre Cooling Impact’ is the SmartCool™ dedicated chilled water precision air conditioning (PAC) system, which earlier this year picked up the title of ‘Datacentre Energy Efficiency Product of the Year’ and ‘Commercial Building Services Product of the Year’ in the Data Centre Solutions (DCS) and H&V News awards respectively. The SmartCool™ CW SD/SN/SR (11-233kW) delivers up to 30% more cooling kW/m2 when compared with competitor units, keeping footprint to a minimum to free up valuable space for IT equipment.

Also shortlisted in the ‘Innovation’ and ‘Product’ of the year categories is  Airedale’s TurboChill™ air cooled (TCC) and TurboChill™ FreeCool (TCF) chiller (200-1360kW), the first BSI approved production range of high performance chillers using the low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant R1234ze on the market. The TurboChill™ was recently selected by John Lewis to cool its latest and most sustainable store which opened in York earlier this year.

Airedale is also nominated for ‘International Achievement of the Year’ and ‘Data Centre Cooling Impact’ for its modular data centre cooling solution developed for pan African telecoms giant, Vodacom Pty Ltd. A joint collaboration between Airedale’s UK and Johannesburg engineering and manufacturing teams, the highly engineered modular data centre delivers significant energy-saving free-cooling opportunities in the challenging heat and humidity of Southern Africa.

Two of Airedale’s young apprentices are also travelling to London in the hope of being named ‘RAC Student of the Year’.
